Full job description

Job Summary:

  • Following Good Earth’s mission statement, GEFC handbook, & upholding the Manager’s Code of Conduct Contract.
  • Maintaining a team of awesome people to accomplish fantastic customer service by actively checking the retail floor, promptly responds to requests for service and assistance, and ensuring our team give excellent customer service over the phone
  • Prioritize work in the store and reassign employee tasks under special circumstances
  • Note employee performance issues and report any ongoing problems to the appropriate department manager.
  • Assist with the resolution of customer service problems (complaints, returns, etc…)
  • Deal with shoplifters, disorderly customers, and other emergencies. Support carrying out established closing procedures.
  • Handle equipment malfunctions (freezers, coolers, etc).
  • Troubleshoot; perform minor repairs when possible.
  • In emergencies, contact appropriate service people, coordinate interim procedures while waiting for service.
  • Notify General Manager of equipment problems.
  • Maintain a clean and user friendly store for our staff and customers.
  • Training and continually evaluating, customer service skills as follows:
  • Compassion for yourself, co-workers, and shoppers – treat each other fairly, consistently and with respect
  • Maintaining the store facilities to provide our customers a safe/clean environment
  • Assisting with product knowledge and education for our shoppers
  • To respect ourselves and our shoppers with a professional appearance
  • Leading by example to promote customer service by being on the sales floor, serving as the back up cashier and helping customers for the majority of shift
  • Holding staff accountable to maintain a team with integrity using performance improvement plans
  • Flexibility to help with any of the other departments when needed with misc. tasks as they arise
  • Attend any meetings that are required
  • Delegation of many misc. tasks around the store.
  • Temp checks
  • Approval and removal of flyers for the Good Earth News Board
  • Front Facing of entire store throughout the day
  • Ensure opening, closing and maintenance checklists are completed daily
  • Ensure all departmental checklists are completed daily

Education and Work History Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Google Docs
  • Experience managing a body of staff
  • 2+ years customer service experience (not required)
