Full job description

Schedule/Hours: 35 hours per week including Saturdays

This position is responsible for:

Under the direction of the Store Manager, follows the warehouse dock area material handling flow chart; assists with routine pick-ups and/or deliveries of material; assists with prepping furnishings & equipment for sale; assists with processing all recyclables for disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follows & performs the handling of all material within the warehouse dock area according to the material handling flow chart.
  • Performs the cleaning of dock area; sweeps and mops; cleans; ensures that the dock area is maintained in a clean and inviting manner; assures compliance of all safety requirements.
  • Assists donors in carrying donated items in/out of the warehouse; assists donors with tax receipts as requested; maintains good relationships with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
  • Assists with monitoring the inspection of all furnishings and appliances for resale, recycle or discard.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
  • Ability to drive a truck safely and in compliance with laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Ability to drive a forklift safely and in compliance with laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting.
  • Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying very heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.) frequently.
  • Work requires exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
