Position Purpose
Responsible for setting up and breaking down banquet rooms per guest’s request.

Essential Job Functions
Functions

  • Set up meeting and banquet rooms following verbal and/or written instructions
  • Carefully transport all required equipment, including but not limited to tables, chairs, vases, glassware and flatware, between kitchen or storage area and appropriate meeting and banquet room
  • Be present at meeting and banquet rooms before and during breaks of meetings or parties to provide any requested service
  • Break down meeting and banquet rooms at end of function
  • Carefully transport all supplies, including but not limited to tables, chairs, or glassware to appropriate storage or cleaning facility at end of function
  • Ensure all rooms are cleaned following hotel standards and procedures
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of work station. Ensure work area meets standards set at completion of shift
  • Inspect all equipment. Report any problems to appropriate personnel. Follow up to ensure correction of problem
  • Responsible for handling cash, upon check presentation based on banquet event order requirements on beverage charges
  • Responsible to perform any extra job related work that is tasked by the Leaders and not written on the given Job Description

Customer Service

  • Interact in courteous and professional manner with guests and hotel staff with whom employee comes into contact
  • Attend to guest’s request or complaints when possible and appropriate; when inappropriate inform supervisor or appropriate person of request and follow up to ensure it was resolved

Other

  • Assist with related duties and special projects as requested
  • Attending training sessions set out by the Westin Resort to ensure continued personal development
  • Attending Departmental meeting for improvement and update on Westin Resort new information

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Interpret and comply with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form
  • Ability to focus and maintain attention to the performance of tasks despite periods of interruptions
  • Ability to work and complete assignment on time despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical or unusual interruptions
  • Ability to maintain good relations with staff and guests
  • Ability to memorize, recollect and quickly retrieve dates, names, times and other data
  • Ability to converse calmly with irate guests, superiors, and subordinates in sometimes intense emotional situations
  • Must be able to convey positive image of self and hotel
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain state and federal health code standards
  • Advance culinary knife skills, cooking methods, soups, sauces, butchering, product identification, preparing stocks, expediting, as it relates to assigned work station required
  • Must be able to understand and comply with safety precautions in use of chemicals
