Midwest Hardwood Company LLC is one of North America’s largest manufacturers of hardwood lumber. We produce and trade high-grade hardwood lumber, logs, flooring and value-added wood products for clients worldwide. We operate our own sawmills, dry kilns and distribution centers, providing the finest hardwood products and excellent service.

We are looking to add a Staff Accountant to our sawmill division team in Reedsburg, WI.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support month-end closing and reporting process and assist with year-end external audits
  • Reconcile month-end cash disbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory and accrued expense accounts
  • General ledger responsibilities for inventory and timber deposit reconciliations on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Complete the weekly processing from log purchases; enter accounts payable data for these settlement financial transactions
  • Maintain the Timbersoft and Agility databases and all related documentation
  • Complete the weekly processing of logs consumption from being sawn, sold or transferred utilizing the Timbersoft database
  • Analyze production costs and provide regular variance and investigative reports for operating management
  • Compile data and prepare various export log sales, logger, trucker and commission reports
  • Identify and research discrepancies in expense/cost accounts and inform management and other appropriate personnel; recommend corrective action as needed
  • Provide back-up support, as needed, for invoicing, cash application, accounts payable, timber contract payments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting
  • Two or more years of related experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ethical standards and high degree of integrity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Internet and financial management software
  • Experience in a lumber-related or similar industrial manufacturing environment is a plus
