Job Summary:
We currently have an open position for a Shunt Driver/Warehouse Operator to join our team on the afternoon shift (4:00 pm – 1:00 am). This role is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard and cross-dock area. This role supports shipping and receiving operations by positioning trailers, completing equipment inspections, and maintaining yard organization. During non-driving periods, the shunt driver assists with general warehouse tasks, including operating a forklift, to support loading, unloading, and material handling. Compliance with all safety protocols is required at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate shunt truck to move trailers in and out of the docks for all warehouses
- Perform daily inspections of trucks and trailers including brakes, lights, tires, fluids, and general condition
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and kept clean
- Communicate with the Site Managers throughout the shift
- Complete daily paperwork including inspection reports and scale tickets
- Report any accidents, damage, or equipment malfunctions immediately
- Assist with general warehouse or production duties during non-peak driving times including operating forklift to load/unload or move materials, verifying shipments and receiving documents and supporting warehouse operators as needed
- Keep the yard organized
- Participate in and follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Minimum two (2) years of shunt driving experience required
- Experience in backing up and maneuvering trailers in tight spaces
- Minimum one (1) year experience operating a forklift in a warehouse setting required
- Valid AZ driver’s license required
- Clean driver’s abstract required
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Prior experience with TDG an asset
