What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead day‑to‑day site management for all construction activities, ensuring works are executed safely, to programme, to the required quality and within agreed budgets.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise structural, architectural, MEP and external works, including sequencing, access, temporary works and interfaces between multiple work fronts.
- Work closely with planning teams to develop and maintain detailed construction programmes and look‑ahead schedules, identifying risks and implementing mitigation/recovery measures.
- Coordinate with design management, consultants and contractors to resolve construction‑related design issues, RFIs and clashes, and to implement agreed technical solutions on site.
- Ensure effective site logistics and phasing, including hoarding, site access/egress, material handling, laydown areas, waste management and coordination with existing operations.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring corrective actions are taken where necessary.
- Implement and oversee quality control procedures, including inspections, tests, mock‑ups and audits, to ensure compliance with specifications and performance requirements.
- Review and validate contractors’ construction methodologies, method statements, risk assessments and resource plans.
- Monitor contractor performance, progress and productivity, review progress reports and support the assessment of interim payments, variations and claims from a construction perspective.
- Coordinate with MEP and specialist trades to ensure timely installation, testing and commissioning alignment with the overall construction programme.
- Lead or support inspections for substantial completion, snagging and de‑snagging, ensuring a smooth transition into testing, commissioning and handover.
- Prepare and contribute to regular site progress reports and coordination meetings with project leadership, consultants, contractors and client representatives.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
- Professional membership or certification (e.g. PMP, CIOB or equivalent) is desirable.
- Minimum 15+ years of construction management experience on large, complex building or infrastructure projects, including significant time in a senior site leadership role.
- Strong track record delivering multi‑disciplinary projects with complex interfaces (e.g. large venues, mixed‑use developments, transport hubs or similar).
- Solid understanding of structural, architectural, MEP and external works construction, with the ability to sequence and coordinate multiple trades.
- Proven experience in site logistics planning, phasing and working in or adjacent to live/operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, site safety practices and quality assurance/quality control processes.
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, specifications and contracts, and to resolve technical and coordination issues on site.
- Experience working closely with planning, commercial and design teams on programme, progress, claims and variations.
- Excellent leadership, communication and team‑management skills, with the ability to direct contractors and influence outcomes on site.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple work fronts, tight deadlines and changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
