I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Maintenance Safety Staff plays a critical role in advancing safety excellence across the Maintenance departments in FPC TX complex. Acting in an advisory and liaison capacity, this position supports Maintenance and Contractors by identifying potential hazards, ensuring consistent adherence to FPG/FPC procedures, and promoting a proactive safety-first culture. This role serves as a key Maintenance liaison to the Safety Department, supporting the rollout and understanding of new safety procedures and assisting Maintenance leadership and craft personnel with interpretation and application of corporate safety requirements. The Maintenance Safety Staff also assists with safe work permitting and pre-planning activities and reinforces accountability in permit execution and contractor safety performance. The Maintenance Safety Staff is instrumental in providing assistance/consultation to unit personnel to carry out tasks safely and efficiently. Through active field presence, practical training, oversight, and audits, this role reinforces safe work practices, supports compliance with safety policies and bridges the gap between departments.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Pre-Planning and Work Oversight: Conduct audit and provide training when necessary to ensure Maintenance units and contractors follow the pre-planning process for permitted work, ensuring high-risk permits are developed properly, reviewed, and aligned with specific job hazards and mitigation strategies.
