Full job description

The Gypsy Bistro is seeking a highly capable, experienced Lead Host / Service Coordinator to take ownership of the front door and help drive the flow of service on our busiest nights.

This is not a basic host position. This role is essential to maintaining a smooth, elevated dining experience and supporting both the kitchen and front-of-house team.

Compensation

$20–$23/hour based on experience
(Higher consideration for candidates with strong OpenTable and high-volume experience)

Schedule

  • Required: Friday & Saturday evenings
  • Additional shifts available for the right candidate

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Managing all reservations and waitlists through OpenTable
  • Controlling the pace and flow of seating to support kitchen efficiency
  • Acting as the point of communication between FOH and kitchen
  • Ensuring servers are prepared before being sat
  • Reducing unnecessary interruptions to the kitchen during service
  • Greeting guests warmly and setting the tone for a high-quality experience
  • Accurately quoting wait times and managing guest expectations
  • Assisting with phone calls and reservation management

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience with OpenTable (required)
  • Experience in a busy, fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Natural leadership and confidence at the front door
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stay calm, organized, and decisive under pressure
  • A genuine understanding of hospitality and guest experience
