Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe and report any changes or concerns
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning patient areas, laundry, and sanitation duties
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to safely transfer residents with mobility challenges
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in accordance with healthcare standards and privacy laws
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive atmosphere that respects each resident’s dignity and preferences
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, home health care, or group homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), autism support, and hospice care is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and perform patient monitoring with compassion and professionalism
- Familiarity with safety procedures such as CPR and first aid certification is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance is beneficial
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring long-term care enhances your suitability for this role
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, social workers, family members, and residents
