Job Description:* Nursery Attendant *
Describe the basic function or purpose of the position
The Nursery Worker of St. Peter’s Church is a part-time position, who oversees the nursery during Sunday services. The nursery attendant supervises infants to age 5 children during the 10:15 worship service, attending to their physical needs and keeping them entertained. The nursery attendant may also be called on to watch children ages
3-12 for church evening events. The nursery’s mission is to believe children should be nurtured and shown the love of God in a warm and welcoming environment.
Reports to: Family Ministries Director FLSA non-exempt position
Compensation:$50 per diem
Describe the type and level of education and experience needed to perform the duties of the position
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent;
- Experience with the care of young children; strong ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities/characteristics.
- 20 years of age or older
- Must have current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) CPR training/certification with infants and children, or be willing to complete a CPR course at St. Peter’s Church’s expense.
- Will attend Safeguarding God’s Children and/or Safe Church Training as required by all church employees.
Special Knowledge and Skills Required
- Demonstrate polite, friendly and courteous behavior to all children, parents and other volunteers;
- Reliable and dependable;
- Able to work Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and other hours on an as needed basis;
- Ability to abide by the nursery policies and classroom expectations provided by Family Ministries Director;
- Ability to communicate in a productive manner with staff, parishioners, and parents as deemed necessary;
- Ability to follow directions;
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision;
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, if necessary; and,
- Provide the children of St. Peter’s a safe and happy atmosphere for their earliest spiritual learning.
