Job Overview: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our urgent care team. As a Medical Assistant in our fast-paced urgent care setting, you will play a vital role in providing efficient and compassionate patient care. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, be able to multitask effectively, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Intake and Triage:
    • Greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a smooth check-in process.
    • Collect and record patient demographic information, medical history, and chief complaints.
    • Prioritize and triage patients based on the urgency of their medical needs.
  • Vital Signs and Patient Preparation:
    • Perform basic clinical tasks, including measuring and recording vital signs.
    • Assist with patient preparation for examinations, procedures, and diagnostic tests.
    • Ensure a clean and organized patient care environment.
  • Assistance to Healthcare Providers:
    • Aid healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries.
    • Prepare and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
    • Assist with wound care, suture removal, and other minor medical procedures.
  • Patient Education:
    • Provide clear and concise instructions to patients regarding prescribed medications, home care, and follow-up instructions.
    • Educate patients on preventive care measures and lifestyle modifications.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits.
    • Manage and update electronic medical records with accuracy and completeness.
    • Handle phone inquiries, take messages, and relay information to healthcare providers.
  • Infection Control and Safety:
    • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and sterile environment.
    • Follow safety guidelines and protocols for handling hazardous materials.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a medical assistant training program or equivalent education.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prior experience in urgent care, primary care, or a related healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-volume setting.
