Overview:
Auburn University’s Library of Architecture, Design and Construction Department (LADC) is excited to begin the search for a TES Library Assistant to support library operations by providing administrative support and customer service, overseeing circulation, and assisting patrons with technology. The LADC is a branch of Auburn University Libraries and primarily supports the research, study, and teaching needs of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. The LADC is also a resource for professionals in related fields and for the community. This position reports to the Head of the LADC. The normal work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM with some weekends as needed.
Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain library collections and physical processing operations for General, Oversize, Portfolio, Materials Lab, Reference, and Periodicals collections. Identify items requiring repair and perform archival-quality repairs using pH-neutral materials; coordinate advanced repairs with Ralph Brown Draughon Library; receive and process new materials; photograph and catalog items in DeepSpace; coordinate with Collections Discovery and Resources; organize and manage periodical documentation and binding; and conduct annual inventory of library materials by coordinating inventory reports with LibHelp and Collections Discovery and Resources, reconciling physical holdings with database records, and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate cataloging, circulation, and access records by troubleshooting Voyager and holding record issues; updating item statuses, barcodes, and catalog records; managing fines and resolving disputes in accordance with library policies; tracking door counts and circulation statistics; and generating statistical and operational reports in collaboration with LibHelp and supervisor-directed initiatives.
- Coordinate resource sharing and academic support services by facilitating Interlibrary Loan, AubieExpress, and Courier services; collaborating with College of Architecture, Design, and Construction (CADC) faculty to process course reserves, update Voyager records, apply reserve labeling, and ensure timely access to materials; and processing and submitting CADC theses for binding.
- Support daily operations and staff supervision by performing opening procedures; assisting patrons at the circulation help desk and co-supervising student workers in coordination with the Student Supervisor; troubleshooting technical and facilities issues; managing access to library and gallery spaces; monitoring equipment and workstations; maintaining shelving accuracy and digital/physical signage alignment; supporting weekend operations as needed; and ensuring overall operational readiness.
