Summary of Position:
We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee our back of house area, supervise our team and ensure our guests are getting excellent quality food in a timely manner. The Farnsworth House Inn is a historic Civil War themed property that has a Tavern, Fine Dining, Ghost/History Tours, B&B Guest Rooms and a Civil War Camp. We need a positive and hard-working person who can run the kitchen independently, with support of upper management, take initiative when needed and maintain good rapport with the staff.
Primary Job Functions:
1. Manage, train and schedule the back of house staff while maintaining a positive work environment.
2. Ensure high standards of consistent, quality food at all times.
3. Maintain the back of house areas – regular cleaning, following SERV safe guidelines, proper care of the equipment and rotation of products.
Job Duties:
· Make the kitchen schedule weekly in accordance with groups or busy periods.
· Attend regular meetings with department heads and upper management.
· Work with the Inventory and Prep Lead to ensure storage areas are maintained and the proper level and quality of prep is met.
· Coordinate with the Front of House Manager on duty to ensure good service for guests and deal with any issues that may arise.
· Create food specials utilizing current products we have in stock and planning holiday buffet or special event menus.
· Make sure our large group dinners are set up on time and work with the group sales coordinator if there are any questions or concerns.
· Accommodate guests with dietary and food allergy requests.
