Kitchen Lead / Sous Chef (Hands-On)
Bagels & Cakes – Geneva, NY

We’re looking for a strong, experienced cook who is ready to step into a hands-on leadership role in a busy, growing café and bakery.

This is not a clipboard position, we’re looking for someone who can lead from the line, keep the kitchen moving, and take ownership of day-to-day operations.

If you’ve been working as a senior line cook or sous chef and are looking for a role with more responsibility, stability, and growth, this is a great opportunity.

About Us

Bagels & Cakes is a fast-paced café serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a strong local following and steady volume.

Hours of operation: M-F 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM | Sat 7 AM-4 PM | SUN 7 AM – 2 PM
Structured around morning and or evening shifts

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the kitchen while actively working the line
  • Direct staff and keep service running smoothly
  • Handle ordering, inventory, and prep organization
  • Maintain consistency, quality, and efficiency
  • Help train and develop kitchen staff
  • Take ownership of the kitchen alongside ownership

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–7+ years kitchen experience (strong line experience required)
  • Previous leadership or sous chef experience preferred
  • Someone who is organized, dependable, and takes initiative
  • A team leader, not afraid to jump in and work
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Position Details

  • Full-time, salaried role
  • Two days off per week (flexible scheduling)
  • Mix of opening and closing shifts
  • Consistent, year-round business (no seasonal layoffs)
