Job Overview

Provide entry-level support to licensed technicians in installing, maintaining, and repairing climate control and water systems in residential settings. This role serves as a critical first step for those looking to build a career in the trades, offering hands-on exposure to both plumbing and HVAC equipment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Installation Support: Assisting in the setup of HVAC units (furnaces, AC condensers, heat pumps) and plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, water heaters).
  • System Preparation: Cutting, punching, and threading pipes or sheet metal ducts using hand and power tools.
  • Job Site Management: Transporting tools and materials, loading/unloading vans, and ensuring work areas are clean and organized.
  • Basic Maintenance: Replacing filters, lubricating motors, and performing routine inspections to identify leaks or malfunctions.
  • Structural Assistance: Drilling holes in walls or floors for pipe and duct passage and mounting hangers or brackets to support systems.

Key Requirements & Skills

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials (often 50–100 lbs), stand for long periods, and work in confined spaces like attics or crawlspaces.
  • Technical Aptitude: Basic familiarity with hand and power tools (wrenches, saws, torches) and a willingness to learn blue-print reading and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Education & Certification: A high school diploma or GED is standard. While not always required, trade school experience or an EPA certification for refrigerant handling can be beneficial.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow precise instructions from lead technicians.
  • Driver’s License: Driving is an essential function of this position and the day to day aspects of the job, there are occasions when delivery of tools and products to the jobsite is necessary or picking up parts or transporting equipment. Company vehicles will be provided to do so.
