Full job description

The award-winning Essex Street Inn in downtown Newburyport is seeking a friendly and organized front desk agent to join our team! This role is responsible for managing guest check-ins and check-outs, handling inquiries, processing reservations, and addressing guest needs promptly and professionally. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the hotel’s reputation for outstanding hospitality.

Averaging 30 hours a week, the schedule for this position will include two morning shifts and three afternoon shifts. Weekend availability is a must.

Duties include:

  • Greet and welcome guests with a warm, professional demeanor, creating a positive first impression.
  • Process guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently, verifying reservations, assigning rooms, and issuing keys.
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints courteously, resolving issues or escalating to management as needed.
  • Manage reservations via phone, email, and online booking systems, ensuring accuracy and guest satisfaction.
  • Provide information about hotel services, amenities, local attractions, and dining options to enhance the guest experience.
  • Process payments, issue invoices, and maintain accurate financial records for guest transactions.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down continental breakfast as needed.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure guest requests are fulfilled promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk area.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as updating guest records and preparing reports as directed.
