Heavy Vehicle Workshop Supervisor

We are looking for a capable and experienced Heavy Vehicle Workshop Supervisor to lead our workshop and fleet activities. The successful candidate will ensure that heavy vehicles and equipment are properly maintained, safe to operate, and available to support daily business operations.

Main Duties

– Manage the day-to-day workshop operations for heavy construction equipment.

– Allocate work to mechanics and monitor maintenance, repairs, inspections, and servicing.

– Plan and coordinate vehicle schedules, driver assignments, and operational requirements.

– Ensure all vehicles comply with company standards, road safety requirements, and transport regulations.

– Maintain up-to-date records for servicing, repairs, fuel consumption, mileage, inspections, and vehicle utilisation.

– Work closely with logistics, warehouse, and operations teams to minimise downtime and avoid disruptions.

– Guide and support drivers and workshop staff on safe operating practices and company procedures.

– Investigate vehicle breakdowns and arrange prompt repair or recovery when required.

– Monitor maintenance and fuel costs, identifying practical ways to improve efficiency and control expenses.

– Prepare regular reports on fleet condition, maintenance status, breakdowns, and overall performance.

Requirements

– Diploma or degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.

– Previous experience supervising heavy vehicle fleets, transport operations, or vehicle workshops.

– Good practical knowledge of heavy vehicle maintenance, inspections, and safety requirements.

– Strong leadership, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.

– Ability to use fleet-management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

– A valid heavy vehicle driving licence will be an advantage.
