Full job description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy trucks such as lowbed, flatbed, dump trucks, tractor-trailers, tankers, to transport materials and goods.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories.
  • Secure cargo according to safety regulations and ensure proper weight distribution.
  • Deliver loads to assigned locations safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Adhere to traffic laws, federal and local transportation regulations, and company policies.
  • Record mileage, fuel use, repairs, and other details in logbooks or electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Perform basic maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, inspecting tires, and cleaning the vehicle.
  • Communicate with dispatchers, supervisors, and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
  • Respond to road emergencies, such as breakdowns or accidents, in a calm and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized cab and cargo area.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with loading and unloading cargo when required.
  • Follow designated routes or use GPS systems to navigate efficiently.
  • Handle and submit all required documentation, including delivery receipts, manifests, and timesheets.
  • Report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately to the maintenance team.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with clients and the public.
  • Observe company health, safety, and environmental policies at all times.
