Position Summary:

We are looking for a general helper to support daily manufacturing activities by assisting fabrication staff, moving materials, preparing parts, and keeping the shop environment clean and organized. This role is vital for ensuring smooth workflow in the fabrication and production areas. The job involves helping machine operators, performing basic fabrication tasks, preparing materials for production, and assisting with packaging and palletizing finished products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform material handling duties, including moving raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility.
  • Assist fabrication personnel with saw cutting, shearing, punching, and bending operations as directed by machine operators or supervisors.
  • Help prepare materials and components for production processes.
  • Perform part cleaning and preparation prior to assembly, welding, or finishing operations.
  • Support general shop organization and housekeeping, including cleaning work areas and removing scrap materials.
  • Build shipping pallets and crates as required for product shipments.
  • Assist with palletizing finished products for storage or shipment.
  • Transport materials to and from workstations to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Follow all safety procedures and shop policies when working around machinery and fabrication equipment.
  • Assist other departments or operators as needed to support production schedules.
  • Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to use common measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, and material thickness gauges.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations, including addition, subtraction, fractions, and simple measurements.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn shop equipment and processes.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organized work areas.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection and hearing protection.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with machine operators, welders, and other shop personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Previous manufacturing or shop experience preferred but not required.
  • Forklift or pallet jack experience is a plus.
