Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced Executive Housekeeper for a residence located in Ottawa, Ontario. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness and organization of two residences, the main residence and the cottage. This position is a full-time, live-out role and requires travelling to the cottage throughout the year. A driver’s license is required. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm with some flexibility required.

This is a role intended for longevity, with an eventual progression into House Manager (and corresponding pay increase) after 1-2 years in the role.

Candidate Profile:

You are an experienced and well-rounded housekeeping professional who enjoys keeping a clean and organized home. You have a strong understanding of household hygiene and cleaning best practices. You have a ‘do what it takes attitude’ and can maintain a calm and collected approach when things don’t go as planned. You are proactive, organised and can keep to a schedule. With time, you will be able to anticipate the needs of Mr and Mrs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Daily housekeeping, including dusting, vacuuming, kitchen and bathroom cleaning, and washing floors
  • Cooking and meal preparation
  • Management of household inventories and implementation of organizational strategies
  • Daily laundry, ironing and steaming
  • Scheduling and supervising trades and contractors
  • Covering and uncovering outdoor furniture
  • Special projects including, but not limited to, quarterly deep cleans, household cupboard and closet cleaning and reorganization
  • Errands including dry cleaning and grocery shopping as required
  • Travelling to the cottage to do a walkthrough during off peak season
  • Adhering to a budget
  • Other duties as required from time to time

Applicant Qualities:

  • Must have previous experience working in a private residence with leadership experience or high end luxury hotels
  • Excellent housekeeping, laundry and ironing skills; correct use of products and methods for fine finishes and surfaces
  • Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times, exercising diplomacy, discretion and respect of boundaries
  • Applicants must be service-oriented with excellent English communication skills
  • A valid Ontario G licence with a vehicle is a requirement
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
