Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and other unique needs. Your compassionate approach and dedication will empower our clients to achieve their personal goals and foster independence. You’ll be an integral part of a dynamic team, providing essential support in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community environments.

What you’ll do

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Monitor patient health by checking vital signs and observing changes in behavior or condition.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs and preferences.
  • Provide compassionate companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction.
  • Ensure a clean and safe living environment through regular cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Administer medications as prescribed while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Support clients with mobility challenges using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive care.

Experience

  • Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with home health care practices, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques to ensure client safety.
  • Experience working with individuals who have autism or other developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as needed for client assistance.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
  • A commitment to maintaining a respectful and dignified environment for all clients.
