Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing clear information and directing calls efficiently.
- Assist dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and passing supplies as needed.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Health Record , ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Perform insurance verification, process claims, and follow up on unpaid balances using medical billing and coding knowledge including CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes.
- Conduct intake procedures, review documentation for accuracy, and update medical histories in the system.
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, ensure proper documentation review, and support health information management standards.
- Support medical administrative tasks such as billing, coding, appointment reminders, and managing clinic schedules to optimize patient flow.
Experience
- Experience preferred, but not required
- Proven experience working in a dental or medical office environment with familiarity in dental terminology and medical coding practices.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; bilingual skills are highly valued.
- Prior clinic experience involving medical records management, intake procedures, and front desk responsibilities preferred.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and familiarity with multi-line phone systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
