Peace Care St. Joseph’s, a 5-Star Skilled Nursing Facility in Jersey City, has an immediate opening for a part-time cook in their main kitchen. The Cook will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of hot and cold food items using a variety of production tools, techniques and equipment.

Responsibilities will include:

• Preparing foods required by the menu, on schedule following recipes and standards.
• Preparing and cooking food for Special Functions and any other duties assigned by the lead cook or manager.
• Maintaining work areas in an orderly and sanitary manner.
• Properly recording all production sheets and maintaining HACCP logs, Refrigeration Logs and Food Warmer Logs.
• Attend scheduled meetings and in-services.

Qualifications:

• Food prep experience required.
• Must be able to speak the English language and have reading and writing skills.
• Must be able to stand and walk for most of the shift.
• Ability to lift moderately heavy loads up to fifty pounds.
• Must be available on weekends

TECHNIQUAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Ability to prepare menu items as directed.
• Knowledge of essentials of food cost control.
• Knowledge of food presentation techniques.
• Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets.
