CNC Operator

Full job description

The CNC Operator will operate CNC routing and cutting machines used in joinery and interior fit-out projects. The role involves cutting panels, wood, MDF, and other materials according to drawings and production schedules while maintaining high-quality standards and workshop safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC router machines for joinery and fit-out production (MDF, plywood, solid wood, acrylic, etc.).
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and job orders.
  • Set up materials, tools, and fixtures on the CNC machine.
  • Load, edit, and run CNC programs (G-code / CAM-generated programs).
  • Perform basic machine calibration, tool changes, and offset adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate cutting of components for joinery items such as cabinets, wall panels, doors, wardrobes, counters, etc.
  • Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy using measuring tools.
  • Coordinate with Draftsman/CAD team for program issues or modifications.
  • Maintain machinery, tools, and a clean working area.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine or production problems and report major issues to maintenance.
  • Follow safety procedures and adhere to workshop production standards.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a CNC Operator in a joinery or interior fit-out workshop.
  • Ability to read and understand joinery shop drawings and cutting lists.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC Router machines (3-axis / 5-axis preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of G-code and CNC programming.
  • Familiarity with CAM software like ArtCAM, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Cabinet Vision, etc. (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of wood materials (MDF, plywood, veneer, HPL, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
  • Ability to handle machine troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
