THE ROLE
The Chef plans, organizes, and supervises the kitchen operations in the mess. The Chef enforces the health, hygiene, safety, and security standards and programs and ensures quality products and services are being provided while maintaining portion sizes and presentation standards. They determine and arrange member’s food requirements for functions, orders food and kitchen supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
College diploma or certificate in hospitality, food service management, or a related field AND some years’ experience in hospitality, food and beverage service sector
A current Inter-Provincial Chef’s certificate
Experience
In planning and supervising food preparation and delivery
In menu planning
In inventory and cost management
In preparing work schedules
In applying policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
Competencies
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Bilingual (English and French) Essential
Reading: Functional
Writing: Functional
Oral: Functional
