Cashier

Summary:

A Cashier position involves processing customer transactions, handling payments and providing excellent customer service. Key duties include taking a customers order, accepting cash and other payment methods, issuing receipts and making sure the customer gets the correct order. Additional responsibilities often include maintaining a clean checkout area, answering customer questions and assisting with stocking and up-selling.

Responsibilities:

· Payment processing – accurately ring up orders and process payments through cash, credit cards, debit cards or other methods.

· Cash handling – Provide correct change to customers and if a customer leaves without getting their change notify the person in charge immediately.

· Customer service – Greet customers, answer questions about products and store policies and refer any issues to the person in charge. Answer the store phone.

· Maintaining the store – Keep the following areas clean front counter, lobby, Restrooms, parking lot, organized and stocked with supplies.

· Promotions and sales – inform customers about current promotions and accept coupons.

· Learning our menu.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Basic Math skills

· Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

· Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems

· Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

· A high school diploma or GED preferred.
