Position Overview

The Kitchen Steward plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and back-of-house areas in a full-service hotel. This position ensures all kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces are clean and sanitized, while also supporting chefs and kitchen staff in daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Sanitation:

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwashing machines or by hand as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, walls, prep surfaces, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations at all times.

Equipment & Inventory Support:

  • Properly store all clean equipment and utensils.
  • Assist in organizing kitchen storage, dry goods, and walk-in coolers/freezers.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment or maintenance needs to supervisors.

Operational Support:

  • Assist chefs and cooks by transporting ingredients, supplies, or equipment as needed.
  • Set up banquet and service kitchen stations for events or meal service periods.
  • Remove trash and recycling materials regularly, ensuring proper disposal procedures.
  • Teamwork & Communication:
  • Collaborate effectively with the culinary team and other departments.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions as required.
