Specialty Coffee Barista

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Specialty Coffee Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate has previous UAE specialty coffee experience, excellent customer service skills, and a genuine passion for coffee craftsmanship. You will be responsible for consistently preparing high-quality beverages while delivering an exceptional customer experience and maintaining our specialty coffee standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso-based beverages to specialty coffee standards.
• Dial in espresso throughout the day to maintain consistency.
• Adjust grind settings based on coffee performance and environmental changes.
• Steam milk with proper texture and temperature for latte art.
• Produce consistent latte art on every milk-based beverage.
• Prepare manual brew methods (V60, Chemex, French Press, AeroPress, etc.) where required.
• Maintain knowledge of coffee origins, processing methods, tasting notes, and brewing techniques.
• Ensure recipes and beverage specifications are followed accurately.
• Conduct daily calibration and quality checks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee station and equipment.
• Perform opening and closing duties.
• Monitor coffee bean freshness and stock levels.
• Report equipment issues promptly.
• Deliver friendly, professional, and personalized customer service.
• Educate customers about coffee beans, brewing methods, and menu offerings.
• Support team members during busy service periods.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and company SOPs at all times.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of specialty coffee experience in the UAE.
• Experience working in a specialty coffee café (not only commercial coffee chains).
• Excellent espresso extraction and milk steaming skills.
• Confident in producing consistent latte art.
• Experience with coffee calibration and grinder adjustments.
• Strong understanding of coffee brewing principles.
• Knowledge of coffee origins, processing methods, and flavor profiles.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Fluent English (Arabic is an advantage).
• Flexible to work weekends, public holidays, and rotating shifts.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with manual brewing methods.
• Coffee cupping experience.
• Ability to train junior baristas.
• Experience using specialty coffee equipment such as Victoria Arduino, La Marzocco, Slayer, EK43, Mythos, etc.
• Knowledge of workflow optimization and beverage consistency.
