Job Summary: A Backflow Apprentice will train under seasoned, licensed professionals to learn backflow system inspections, service, and repairs, including fire codes and industry procedures. The apprentice will progress through structured milestones, training classes, and testing during the first year, with pay increases tied to the successful completion of each milestone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train under a seasons and licensed backflow technician to learn all aspects of Backflow system inspections, service and repairs.
- Learn and understand fire codes and procedures for service and inspections
- Meet milestone, attending training class and pass testing during first year
- Other duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- High School Diploma / GED, preferred
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving background
- Ability to pass drug screen and background check
- Strong work ethic, professional attitude, honest and hard working
- Ability to use iPad / iPhone
- Common knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook/ Word/ Excel
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices
- Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
