Assistant Baker

Full job description

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Under the guidance of the Executive Pastry Chef, prepares pastries, baked goods, and desserts for retail, farmers’ markets, catering, events, weddings, and more
  • Prepares all desserts according to curated recipes and instructions
  • Organizes pastry production in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Always maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition
  • Complies with standards for personal hygiene and dress code
  • Possesses knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of kitchen tools and equipment
  • Restocks bakery display as needed
  • Assists with FOH operations as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience working as a pastry cook or baker in a bakery, hotel, restaurant, country club or other similar industry producing pastries, desserts and bread from scratch
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • Understand measurements, conversions, and production schedules
  • Comfortable working independently as well as with others
  • Able to finish tasks quickly and efficiently
  • Must be able to provide a pastry portfolio
