General Helper

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of immunity to Measles and German Measles
  • Valid picture ID
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP)

Such alternatives to the above required & preferred qualifications as the Superintendent/Designee may find appropriate and acceptable


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and events
  • Assists custodians, playground assistants, crossing guards, etc., as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Cleans school facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, restrooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment
  • Informs students, other site personnel and supervisor for the purpose of providing information regarding activities, safety and/or proper maintenance of facilities
  • Maintains supplies, equipment, vehicle, etc., for the purpose of ensuring the availability of required items
  • Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items as needed to properly maintain facilities
  • Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, broken window, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
  • Evaluates situations (e.g. involving other staff, students, parents, the public, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
  • Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Skills are required to perform single, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: a variety of position-specific skills.


Knowledge is required to perform basic math, understand written procedures, write routine documents and speak clearly; and understand multi-step oral and written instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: various position-specific information learned on-the-job.
