RESTAURANT CASHIER
Purpose of the Position:
To manage customer transactions efficiently and accurately while providing excellent service at the point of sale. The Restaurant Cashier plays a key role in creating a positive customer experience by handling payments, answering queries, and supporting front-of-house operations in a clean and organized environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner as they enter or approach the counter.
- Accurately take orders and input them into the POS (Point of Sale) system.
- Process various types of payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments, and gift cards.
- Provide correct change and issue receipts to customers.
- Handle customer inquiries or concerns regarding orders, pricing, or menu items.
- Coordinate with kitchen and service staff to ensure order accuracy and timely service.
- Maintain a clean and tidy cashier station, counter area, and front-of-house environment.
- Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift; report any discrepancies to management.
- Assist with packing takeaway orders, labeling, and ensuring correct items are delivered to customers.
- Restock front counter items such as menus, napkins, condiments, and packaging materials.
- Follow all company policies regarding cash handling, safety, and food hygiene.
- Support team members during busy periods with additional front-of-house tasks as needed.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and card transactions with accuracy.
- Familiarity with POS systems or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
- High level of attention to detail and reliability.
- Willingness to assist team members and take on varied tasks.
- Previous experience in a cashier or front-of-house role in a restaurant or café is a plus but not required.
