Job Purpose
The Public Area Attendant will maintain cleanliness, presentation and functionality of communal and guest-facing areas within a private property. The role includes routine cleaning, polishing and upkeep of public spaces, replenishing amenities, reporting maintenance needs, and assisting with occasional event setup and turnaround, follow instruction and uphold the household’s standards of presentation and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning & Upkeep: Clean and maintain public areas including entrances, hallways, reception rooms, lounges to a high standard; dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing and spot-cleaning as required.
- Presentation: Maintain immaculate presentation of communal spaces by straightening furnishings, arranging decorative items, polishing surfaces and ensuring soft furnishings are tidy and well-presented.
- Event Support: Assist with setup for private functions and events in public areas, including furniture arrangement, cleaning between sittings and rapid turnaround of spaces.
- Reporting & Maintenance: Identify and report maintenance, safety or security issues promptly
- Equipment Care: Use, maintain and store cleaning equipment and supplies safely and correctly
- Health & Safety: Follow health, safety and hygiene procedures at all times, including safe handling of chemicals and adherence to protocols
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in housekeeping, public area cleaning or hospitality environments preferred, ideally within hotels or similar high-standard settings.
- Good practical knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on presentation and upkeep of standards.
- Good communication skills and a polite.
- Fluent in English.
