Key Responsibilities of a Pool Lifeguard:
- Supervision & Monitoring:
- Constantly observe pool users to prevent accidents or drownings.
- Maintain clear visibility and rotate positions regularly to cover all pool zones.
- Enforcing Pool Rules:
- Ensure swimmers follow safety rules (e.g., no running, diving in shallow areas).
- Educate visitors on pool safety when necessary.
- Emergency Response:
- Perform rescues in case of drowning or distress.
- Provide first aid or CPR when needed.
- Coordinate with emergency services if required.
- Safety Checks:
- Inspect safety and rescue equipment (e.g., floatation devices, spine boards).
- Check water quality (chlorine, pH levels) and report any issues.
- Report and remove hazards in and around the pool.
- Customer Service:
- Assist swimmers with queries or concerns.
- Provide a welcoming and safe environment for all guests.
- Documentation:
- Record incidents, rescues, and maintenance checks.
- Maintain logs of water test results and inspections.

- Strong swimming skills
- Alertness and quick reaction time
- Confidence in handling emergencies
- Good communication and people skills
- Physically fit
