Permit Coordinator

Job Description

  • Install, joint, terminate, and test HV/LV power cables in compliance with electrical and safety standards.
  • Conduct insulation resistance testing, continuity checks, and fault-finding on power cables.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and cable routing plans.
  • Perform various cable jointing methods, including XLPE, PILC, resin, and heat shrink techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, BS 7671, and client-specific regulations.
  • Work in hazardous environments, following ATEX regulations for explosive atmospheres.
  • Ensure safe working practices while handling high-voltage equipment.
  • Perform cable splicing, taping, and sealing to prevent moisture ingress.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and materials required for jointing work.
  • Provide technical support and liaise with engineers, supervisors, and safety officers.
  • Keep records of jointing work, test results, and compliance documentation.
  • Diagnose and repair cable faults efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee the Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory safety policies.
  • Review and approve work permits for high-risk activities, including hot work, confined space entry, electrical work, and working at heights.
  • Ensure all permits are properly documented, signed, and displayed at the worksite.


Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
    • Certified Cable Jointer for HV/LV cables.
    • Electrical Safety & Permit to Work (PTW) Training.
    • OSHA or NEBOSH certification (preferred).


Additional Information

  • Understanding of cable insulation materials and jointing techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations in high-risk environments.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and electrical layouts.
