Full job description

  • Operate heavy/tractor-trailer trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all traffic laws, road signs, and company policies.
  • Plan routes using GPS or maps, adapting to traffic/diversions.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (tires, brakes, oil, lights).
  • Report serious mechanical problems promptly.
  • Load and unload goods, sometimes with assistance (forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Secure cargo with chains, straps, or covers to prevent damage.
  • Verify load accuracy and complete delivery paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate logs (working hours, mileage, fuel).
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and logistics teams.
  • Report accidents, incidents, or delays immediately.
  • Keep the truck and equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Refuel and perform basic maintenance.
  • Provide professional customer service at delivery points.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations (e.g., Hours of Service).
  • Ensure valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and clean record.
