Full job description
- Operate heavy/tractor-trailer trucks safely and efficiently.
- Follow all traffic laws, road signs, and company policies.
- Plan routes using GPS or maps, adapting to traffic/diversions.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (tires, brakes, oil, lights).
- Report serious mechanical problems promptly.
- Load and unload goods, sometimes with assistance (forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Secure cargo with chains, straps, or covers to prevent damage.
- Verify load accuracy and complete delivery paperwork.
- Maintain accurate logs (working hours, mileage, fuel).
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and logistics teams.
- Report accidents, incidents, or delays immediately.
- Keep the truck and equipment clean and in good working order.
- Refuel and perform basic maintenance.
- Provide professional customer service at delivery points.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations (e.g., Hours of Service).
- Ensure valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and clean record.
