Full job description
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of a company’s fleet of vehicles. This role ensures that all fleet operations run efficiently, vehicles are maintained to safety and regulatory standards, and maintenance schedules are followed. The supervisor leads a team of technicians and coordinates with internal departments and external vendors to minimize vehicle downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the work of fleet maintenance technicians.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance and repairs are performed according to company and regulatory standards.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for compliance with safety, DOT, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports using fleet management software.
- Oversee inventory and ordering of parts, tools, and supplies.
- Manage work orders, assign tasks, and prioritize repair jobs based on urgency and operational impact.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff; conduct performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate vehicle availability.
- Negotiate and monitor contracts with external service providers as needed.
- Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the maintenance facility and tools.
- Monitor budgets and control maintenance costs.
