Key Responsibilities – Dog & Pet Handling

  • Deliver compassionate, individualised attention to each dog and pet, ensuring all needs are met with patience and professionalism.
  • Supervise pets during walks, exercise, and play, promoting their well-being and safety at all times.
  • Assist with bathing, basic grooming, feeding, medication administration, and maintenance of routines set by the household or veterinary professionals.
  • Monitor health and behaviour closely, promptly reporting any concerns or changes to the principal or designated contacts.
  • Support the safe and comfortable transportation of pets for vet visits, excursions, or travel, maintaining security and reassurance throughout.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within all pet areas, ensuring a hygienic and welcoming environment in line with the residence’s standards.
  • Provide calm, reassuring company to pets during periods of owner absence or household activity, upholding high standards of discretion and care.

Essential Skills & Experience for Pet Handling Roles

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in professional dog handling, pet sitting, animal care, or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of animal behaviour, basic first aid, and the ability to anticipate and respond to varied pet needs.
  • Excellent observation skills, attention to detail, and awareness of safety procedures.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and respectful of the privacy and preferences of the household and its guests.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with owners, veterinary providers, and fellow team members.
