Job Summary:
The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality. The role involves assisting senior chefs, learning kitchen operations, and ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food items as per standard recipes
- Follow instructions from the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or Head Chef
- Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet company standards
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Follow food safety, HACCP, and sanitation standards at all times
- Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen supplies (FIFO)
- Minimize food wastage and report any issues to senior chefs
- Support other kitchen sections when required
- Comply with company policies, health, and safety regulations
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Basic culinary knowledge or kitchen experience preferred
- Culinary certificate or hotel management diploma is an advantage
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Physically fit and able to stand for long hours
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
Experience:
- 1–2 years of kitchen experience
