Full job description

Job Purpose:

To provide excellent customer service by accurately processing transactions, handling cash, and ensuring smooth checkout operations at the supermarket.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Scan, weigh, and process items quickly and accurately at the checkout counter.
  • Handle cash, credit card, and digital payments with accuracy.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, or exchanges as per company policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier counter.
  • Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and assist with complaints.
  • Coordinate with supervisors for price checks, voids, or special transactions.
  • Follow company policies for cash handling and security.
  • Support other departments during peak hours if required.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous cashier or retail experience preferred.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure during peak hours.
  • Honest, reliable, and detail-oriented.

Work Conditions:

  • Standing for long periods.
  • Rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Fast-paced retail environment.
