Summary

The Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant to ensure that guests receive exceptional service and the restaurant runs smoothly. The role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of service standards, and the ability to effectively manage the restaurant team. The Assistant Manager ensures that the team meets operational goals, handles guest complaints professionally, and maintains the highest levels of hospitality, in line with the Banyan Tree brand.

Responsibilities

Operational Support:

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring that service standards are met.
  • Monitor and manage the quality of food and beverage service to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between the kitchen, front-of-house staff, and other departments to deliver a seamless guest experience.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and table assignments efficiently.
  • Ensure the restaurant is well-stocked and that inventory levels are maintained appropriately.

Team Leadership & Supervision:

  • Supervise and support the restaurant team, including servers, hosts, and other service staff, ensuring that they adhere to service standards.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of staff to ensure they deliver exceptional service.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to staff to enhance performance and ensure high operational standards.
  • Assist in scheduling and ensuring proper staffing levels are maintained, particularly during peak periods.

Guest Service & Relations:

  • Ensure that guests receive excellent service and that their needs are anticipated and met.
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly, with a focus on problem-solving and guest satisfaction.
  • Address guest feedback, whether positive or negative, and take immediate action to resolve any issues.
  • Promote guest loyalty by creating memorable experiences and building relationships with repeat customers.

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Assist in managing the restaurant’s financial performance, ensuring that revenue targets and budgets are met.
  • Monitor daily revenue and operational expenses to ensure cost control and profitability.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and analyzing performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that cash handling and billing are accurate and compliant with company policies.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure that the restaurant complies with health and safety regulations, including cleanliness, food handling, and sanitation standards.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure that all health and safety guidelines are adhered to by the team.
  • Ensure staff is properly trained on emergency procedures and that safety protocols are followed.

Administration & Reporting:

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as inventory tracking, order management, and maintaining records of guest feedback.
  • Ensure the proper documentation of staff training, incidents, and operational reports.
  • Help prepare and submit weekly or monthly performance reports to the Restaurant Manager, including guest satisfaction scores and financial data.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management to support the effective operation of the department and the broader goals of the property.
