Job Purpose:

The Assistant Manager – Warehouse is responsible for supporting overall warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage, handling, and movement of items. The role involves supervising warehouse staff, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and optimizing space and process efficiency to meet business and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Warehouse Operations Management

· Supervise daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of items.

· Ensure proper handling of bulky and fragile materials to avoid damage during storage and movement.

· Plan and allocate tasks to warehouse associates to meet operational targets.

· Oversee inbound and outbound logistics in coordination with transport and procurement teams.

2. Inventory Control

· Maintain accurate inventory records in WMS (Warehouse Management System).

· Conduct periodic cycle counts and physical stock verification.

· Monitor stock discrepancies and coordinate with inventory control and finance teams for timely resolution.

· Support in managing damaged or returned items, including documentation and write-off processes.

3. People Management

· Supervise and motivate warehouse team members to achieve operational efficiency.

· Train staff on material handling procedures, equipment operation, and safety compliance.

· Evaluate team performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

4. Process & System Improvement

· Assist in implementing best warehouse practices and process improvement initiatives.

· Support digitalization and automation efforts within the warehouse.

· Collaborate with IT/WMS team to resolve system-related issues.

5. Health, Safety & Compliance

· Ensure compliance with warehouse safety regulations and company policies.

· Conduct regular inspections to maintain a safe and organized working environment.

· Report and investigate incidents or accidents promptly.

6. Reporting & Coordination

· Prepare and share daily/weekly/monthly reports on warehouse performance, inventory status, and KPIs.

· Coordinate with procurement, planning, logistics, and store operations for smooth workflow.

· Support management in audits, vendor evaluations, and stock reconciliation activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.

· 4–6 years of experience in warehouse operations, preferably in furniture, home décor, or large-format retail.

· Hands-on experience with WMS systems (e.g., Infor, D365).

· Strong understanding of inventory management, logistics flow, and material handling equipment.

· Experience in team supervision and vendor coordination.

Skills & Competencies:

· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

· Knowledge of health, safety, and quality standards.

· Proficiency in MS Excel and warehouse management tools.

· Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
