Job Summary
The Mechanical Helper – LPG Pipeline assists technicians and pipe fitters in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of LPG pipeline systems. The role involves handling materials, preparing work sites, using hand tools, and ensuring all work is performed safely in accordance with company procedures and HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, modification, and maintenance of LPG pipeline systems.
- Support pipe fitters and technicians during pipeline fabrication and installation.
- Load, unload, and transport pipes, fittings, valves, regulators, and other materials.
- Prepare tools, equipment, and work areas before starting work.
- Assist in cutting, threading, grinding, and assembling pipes under supervision.
- Help with pressure testing, leak detection, and commissioning of LPG pipelines.
- Perform excavation and backfilling work when required for underground pipeline installations.
- Maintain cleanliness of the worksite and ensure proper housekeeping.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or damaged equipment to the supervisor immediately.
- Assist in emergency maintenance and repair activities when required.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment.
- Previous experience in LPG, gas pipeline, construction, or mechanical works is an advantage.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic understanding of mechanical and pipeline work.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and handle heavy materials safely.
- Awareness of workplace safety and HSE requirements.
Preferred Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in LPG pipeline installation or maintenance.
- Experience working with steel and copper piping.
- Familiarity with gas pipeline fittings, valves, and regulators.
- Experience assisting with pressure testing and leak detection.
