Job Summary:
A kitchen cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas. The role supports kitchen operations by ensuring all equipment, utensils, and workspaces are clean, organized, and compliant with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize kitchen floors, walls, countertops, and food preparation areas.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, trays, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Operate dishwashing machines and ensure proper cleaning procedures.
- Empty garbage bins and dispose of waste according to health and safety guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize refrigerators, freezers, ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment.
- Replenish cleaning supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries when required.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety hazards.
- Support kitchen staff in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen is an advantage.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
