Job Responsibilities
The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of personnel and the seamless execution of production schedules. Your duties will include:
Team Management & Leadership
- Direct Supervision: Lead and mentor all shop floor technicians, ensuring high productivity and morale.
- Performance Management: Conduct performance monitoring and end-of-year appraisals; identify and execute skills-based training requirements.
- Resource Allocation: Allocate work based on individual skill sets and manage overtime or shift changes to meet fluctuating production demands.
- Conflict Resolution: Motivate personnel and resolve difficult situations or technical challenges as they arise.
Operational Oversight & Production Control
- Technical Liaison: Act as the primary communication link between the Workshop and the Engineering department.
- Schedule Management: Ensure all repairs and maintenance respect the timing and priorities dictated by repair schedules to achieve delivery targets set by the Shop Manager.
- Documentation & Quality: Oversee the completion of work instruction books; ensure all operations are correctly signed, dated, and returned on time.
- Quality Assurance: Guarantee that all work is completed to the highest industry standards and that quality procedures are strictly followed.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
- Compliance: Ensure all personnel operate within the health and safety procedures outlined in the H&S manual.
- Incident Management: Report and participate in the investigation of any accidents or incidents.
- Workshop Upkeep: Maintain a tidy, controlled, and professional workshop environment to uphold the company’s internal and external reputation.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and proven leadership capabilities within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of rotating equipment (specifically steam turbines and centrifugal compressors).
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record in a supervisory role (equivalent to Shop Supervisor I/II) with the ability to manage diverse technical teams.
- Documentation Skills: Strong attention to detail regarding quality records, work instructions, and production sign-offs.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively bridge the gap between technical staff and management.
- Commitment to Safety: A “safety-first” mindset with experience in implementing H&S protocols and maintaining workshop cleanliness (5S).
- Availability: Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) in the KEZAD/Abu Dhabi area, with flexibility to manage overtime as required by production needs.
Base Location & Work Schedule
This is a full time, on-site permanent position based out of our Repair Facility in KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi.
