Overview
Join our award winning boutique resort, Hotel Hartness is growing! We are looking for a Banquet Captain/Supervisor, where you will lead and coordinate banquet service operations to deliver exceptional guest experiences. This energetic role requires a proactive leader with a passion for food service management, team supervision, and hospitality excellence. You will oversee banquet events from setup to breakdown, ensuring smooth execution, superior customer service, and adherence to safety standards. Your leadership will inspire the team to perform at their best while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Please note 0ur facility executes luxury events in indoor/outdoors settings simultaneously. Pay is hourly($16/hr) plus gratuities.

Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate banquet service staff to ensure timely and professional delivery of food and beverage services during events.
  • Oversee food preparation, presentation, and service, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory control for banquet supplies, linens, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
  • Utilize POS systems such as Toast POS and Micros POS for order processing, billing, and cash handling with accuracy.
  • Train new staff members on food handling, customer service protocols, and operational procedures to foster a knowledgeable team.
  • Assist in shift management by scheduling staff, monitoring performance, and addressing any operational issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with kitchen management to coordinate food production for large-scale events including catering and banquets.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed during events, including food safety practices and emergency procedures.
  • Handle customer inquiries or complaints professionally to guarantee guest satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Support management in budgeting efforts by controlling labor costs and minimizing waste through effective inventory control.

Skills

  • Extensive experience in food service management within banquet or catering environments; fine dining or hotel experience preferred.
  • Proven supervising experience with strong leadership skills in team management and staff training & development.
  • Proficiency in POS systems such as Toast POS and Micros POS; cash handling expertise required.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and culinary standards; culinary experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, inventory control, and food handling procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interview candidates and conduct staff training effectively.
  • Ability to manage shift operations efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience in hospitality management including budgeting, food production coordination, and event planning.
  • Leadership qualities that motivate teams, foster collaboration, and ensure seamless event execution.
  • Familiarity with casual dining or banquet experience enhances your ability to adapt quickly to diverse guest needs.
