Augusta Auctions is North America’s premier auction house for rare historic fashions & textiles, which has been in operation for the past 25 years.

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated full-time employee to assist with cataloging & mounting garments and textiles for our monthly auctions.

This is an entry level position with great potential to expand and grow with an established auction house.

This is a rare opportunity to join a small team of dedicated professionals in bucolic Southern Vermont, and have access to a fascinating array of fashions & textiles spanning centuries.

Duties to include:

• Handling a wide variety of antique, couture & vintage garments and textiles,
• documenting measurements, condition, and performing label research
• Costume mounting for photography
• Organizing and caring for inventory
• Assisting with client pick-ups and drop-offs
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs, stand for long periods, and work well independently as well as collaboratively

Experience

• The ideal candidate will have a basic working knowledge of 18th through 20th century fashionable silhouettes, and a desire to further their knowledge.
• Experience handling period garments is preferred.
• We are willing to train the right candidate as long as they have enthusiasm and passion for costume history!
