Job Summary
Join our founding team at Capriciano Osteria as a Host and be the first and last impression of one of Santa Rosa’s most exciting new restaurant openings! Opening May 2025, Capriciano is an upscale Italian seafood osteria where hospitality begins at the front door. In this role, you will manage our front of house with grace, warmth, and professionalism — setting the tone for every guest experience from the moment they walk in. Duties
- Welcome all guests with a genuine, warm greeting that reflects our Italian hospitality philosophy
- Manage reservations and walk-ins using OpenTable, optimizing floor efficiency during service
- Coordinate table assignments with servers and management to ensure smooth seating flow
- Communicate wait times honestly and manage guest expectations with a positive attitude
- Answer phone calls professionally — take reservations, answer menu questions, handle special requests
- Manage the waitlist during peak hours, keeping guests informed and comfortable
- Coordinate private events and group dining: interior seats up to 50 guests (up to 89 for private events), patio seats up to 30 guests (up to 50 for private events)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming entrance and waiting area
- Assist in distributing daily menus and specials
Experience
- Prior hosting or front-of-house experience in a full-service restaurant preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable with reservation management software (OpenTable experience a plus)
- Organized, calm under pressure, and able to problem-solve in real time
- Professional, polished appearance
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required
- Lunch and evening availability — we operate lunch (11 AM–4 PM) and dinner service
