The Role:
As Events Manager for the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, you will be responsible for servicing all market segments, handling complex events and managing repeat business. We are looking for an excellent team player with a strong knowledge of hotel operations. Proven ability to sell, plan and execute events effectively and with superior attention to detail. Your excellent communication skills will assist in the delivery of all event information including, but not limited to, set-up, menu design, room rates, room blocks and billing information through Banquet Event Orders, Agenda’s and other appropriate channels.
You will be expected to execute a sales strategy that supports the overall strategic goals of the organization. Considerable emphasis will be put on pre-cons, hosted FAMS and site tours. You will effectively manage business to ensure revenue and inventory optimization. The role requires resourcefulness and drive; a natural influencer that will aid our team of high performers. You will be a champion of managing and executing the Hotel’s proactive sales efforts while making business decisions that are focused on upholding the highest standards in guest service, while delivering against key financial goals and performance metrics.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and self-managed but thrive in a collaborative environment. Significant experience in hotel guest service in required. Job Duties:
- Processing all details of the event from beginning to end, processing all the information pertaining to the booking and distribute to all appropriate departments.
- Yielding guestroom rates, meeting space and catering revenue to optimize hotel revenues.
- Exceed all booking targets and revenue goals.
- Accuracy of information input into CI/TY and or Reserve will ensure detailed follow up notes and traces for further client contact through e-marketing, calls and hotel events.
- Connecting with clients through conversation and active listening, is crucial to the position’s success; you must be able to understand, act on, and follow-up on requests made by customers and ensure they are communicated to all stakeholders in the operations team at the hotel. Once the function is complete a follow up call to ensure client satisfaction and request for future business is critical.
- Conduit and Liaison working on behalf of the customer to ensure all needs are met by communicating to the operations team the details of the event and room block, also working with accounting to ensure all appropriate billing and credit details are accommodated.

Education & Employment Requirements
- Post-Secondary education in a Hospitality/Tourism related field is a definite asset.
- 1 year experience in a hotel environment. Specific experience in sales and/or events is an asset.
- 1 year Food and Beverage experience with an ability to plan and execute events effectively with a strong sense of detail.
- Previous and/or working knowledge of OPERA, CI/TY, Reserve/Cloud Systems, and Microsoft Office Programs.
- 2 years event operations experience is an asset.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
