Position: Golf Shop Cashier

Department: Golf Shop

Reports To: Golf Shop Manager, Head Golf Professional

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Seasonal, Full or Part-time

General Function:

The Golf Shop Cashier is a key front‑line representative of the golf facility, responsible for delivering friendly, professional service to every guest. This role manages essential front‑desk operations, including golfer check‑ins, tee‑time support, and accurate retail transactions, while maintaining an organized and efficient shop environment. The cashier assists customers with merchandise selection, keeps displays stocked and appealing, and provides helpful information about course conditions, policies, and facility offerings. As a versatile team member, the Golf Shop Cashier supports daily operations, contributes to a welcoming atmosphere, and helps ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience for all players.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly, professional service to all golfers entering the shop
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including counting tills and securing the shop
  • Assist guests with questions about tee times, course conditions, and facility policies
  • Offer product recommendations and support merchandise selection
  • Process transactions for green fees, cart rentals, merchandise, and memberships
  • Handle cash, credit cards, and receipts with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Balance the cash drawer and complete opening/closing procedures
  • Check in golfers efficiently and verify tee‑time reservations
  • Answer phone calls and assist with scheduling tee times
  • Communicate delays, course updates, or special events to players
  • Restock shelves, maintain clean displays, and ensure merchandise is organized
  • Monitor inventory levels and report low‑stock items to management
  • Assist with pricing, tagging, and seasonal product changes
  • Keep the golf shop clean, tidy, and welcoming
  • Maintain organization of storage areas, counters, and workspaces
  • Support other golf operations staff as needed during busy periods
  • Follow all departmental and IMGRAC policies, safety procedures, and customer service standards

Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Friendly, approachable, and service‑oriented
  • Comfortable using radios or communication devices to coordinate with staff
  • Ability to learn and operate POS and tee‑sheet software
  • Reliable, punctual, and present a positive and professional image
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Knowledge of golf terminology is helpful but not required
  • Comfortable multitasking in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Calm under pressure and able to handle busy periods smoothly
  • Have and maintain a valid drivers’ license
  • Ability to take directions and accept corrections
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
